Hey guys! I had a really great time with you all, I hope we can do it again sometime. I wanted to use this space to post a few links relating to the teen grid for anyone intrested.

Global Kids does alot of work within Teen Second Life, and you can read all about that on the site:
    http://www.holymeatballs.org

Alex Harbinger mentioned his blog, and easily enough you can find it at:
    http://www.alexharbinger.com

And my Flickr was mentioned. I take alot of pictures of sims and events and stuff. Check it out here:

(There isn’t much there yet; as I’m pretty new to Flickr, but I’ll be sure to continue adding stuff for anyone intrested.)

If you have any more questions about the teen grid; you can always ask questions on my Snapzilla, Flickr, or email me at: Lucky_Sillanpaa@yahoo.com

This “unification” could occur in the near future. I believe that this is one of the primary reasons they are pushing both verification and orientation outsourcing. They are attempting to make a system which is more connected and less complex, in order to reduce server load.

Thanks SecondCast folks for putting some attention on the teen grid and the grassroots activism that is going on.

For clarification, I don’t think Philip and Blue explicitly endorsed the Unification Project during their interview on Global Kids island last March, but you can read the edited transcript here:
    http://www.holymeatballs.org/2007/03/sl_blue_and_philip_linden_pres.html

It might be more accurate to say that 1) a better way to verify age is coming down the pike and 2) this will allow for the creation of a new grid, where teens and adults can interact, but be separate and apart from the main or the teen grid (my sense is it might have an educational focus, but that’s just a guess).

The interview made it clear that the reason the teen grid was created – for legal reasons – would be addressed differently were it created now. How, Philip didn’t say, but that was an interesting comment. Not only did it suggest that Linden Lab was now open to a new way for teens and adults to interact, it also showed how the creation of what would become perhaps the largest teen run community/economy on the world was incidental.

So even if the technical and legal reasons that led to the creation of the teen grid no longer exists, a new one developed as a result: to support teen leadership. Global Kids would like to see the creation of a new grid where adults and teens can interact, but we see that in addition to the teen grid, not a a replacement.
