SecondCast #43 – “libsecondlife”

Johnny Ming and Walker Spaight interview Eddy Stryker (John Hurliman) and Bushing Spatula (Ben Byers) behind the libsecondlife project which aims to create a stable, open source platform for third party Second Life development. However, recently one of the libsecondlife tools called CopyBot has become the center of controversy among content creators across the grid.

    So, if they could manage to think about and do the moral thing with the code that would allow people to upload anything without paying then why couldn’t they do the moral thing with the copybot code?

    It’s not okay for LL to lose money, but if the content creators lose thier business it’s perfectly fine?

    I don’t know…. maybe I’m missing something?
