  1. I was out shooting anything that moved. You guys had me a scareded.

  2. *standing ovation*.
    Really brilliant and totally awesome.
And if i had a record company i defenitly would offer Spin a record deal for his Thriller cover :D

  3. Hahahahahahaah I had a wonderful time doing this with y’all! Thanks so much for the opportunity!

  4. Boss Melnitz says:

What the hell was that? Nice to hear Torrid’s voice again, tho.

  5. I’d comment, but I died! XD

This was a ton of fun to do. Thanks SC!

  6. jrrdraco oe says:

This an odd episode, but is one of the best program I have heard in the format of podcast.

Wasnt aware if there an actual event happening on it?

  7. Ace Foley says:

The concept was interesting. Thanks for trying.
I just wish at least ONE of the voice actors had any life in their voice. Each and every person in your radio drama delivered their lines in a monotone voice. That was creepier than the story, watching you fail horribly. Like your own kid’s elementary school play, it was horrible, but I couldn’t turn it off. Not to troll you or anything, but Jesus Linden, damn.

  8. jrrdraco oe says:

True, Walker was terrible I almost could hear “haha Ladies and gentlemen this is the most terrifing sight hahaha I ever witnessed…”

“… it is so awful hahaha eyes are white and green…”

  9. johnny says:

Jrrdaco, we wanted to do this one live but it proved to be too difficult. Instead we taped it outside of Second Life and then added the effects afterwards.

I expect that some of our regular listeners will think this was the strangest episode of SecondCast. To Boss and others, I assure you next week’s episode will follow the usual formula. :)

Ace, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to make the episode a lampoon or *try* to be serious. My voice is monotone and droning every week! Jesus Linden?

  10. Torrid says:

Hey now, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when I professed my love for Walker! Or maybe that was from laughter…

  11. Baba says:

    Stupid… Marvelous!

  13. Novi Gadsby says:

Even in a time of intergalactic crisis, people still want to roll them bones.

  14. Phoebe Kasshiki says:

In RL, I am Mom a modern day sort of Partridge Family. DH has bp (band practice) at our house once a week and gigs on weekends. Two sons who both play multiple instruments and have rec’d various awards for their abilities. Even my four year old sings!

So, while I am not at all musically talented, I feel I am way qualified to say–OMG FROGGY and Jaycatt ROCK!!!!
I am so new to the SL thing but WOW, I will be looking around to hear more!

    Any hopes of a CD?

  15. Melissa Yeuxdoux says:

All I can say is… once SL comes back up, I’m getting on, searching for Yoyodyne Propulsion Labs, and checking how many people are named John.

  16. Observant one says:

This sounds alot like War of the Worlds, even to the point of why they died… >.>

  17. Observant one says:

    But you knew that xD

  18. Myoukitsune Kirkorian says:

The bloopers were the best part, I LOVE IT XD

  19. Rifkin Habsburg says:

    Hilarious!! Well done, guys!

SecondCast #37: War of the Virtual Worlds?…

For those that haven’t heard the news: Second Life is under attack! But it’s not W-Hats this time, it’s Martians! Take a listen on the latest episode of SecondCast for more details. Or maybe you want to wait for Halloween.

    ……

  21. AHAHAHAHA! You guys had me laughing so much during this podcast! Good show! Good job!

  22. Alexa Lioncourt says:

We listened to this streaming into SL on Phreak Radio. It was the perfect way to experience it. Sitting all together huttled on the couches..listening intently and no awareness of what was going on outside of your building. Was the outside still there?? Were we the only ones left? Will I be stuck with Lecktor & friends!?!?!?

Brilliant show – this is a keeper!! Thanks so much for the time and effort you all put into this. It was a true joy!

  23. DoctorMike Soothsayer says:

One of my favourite radio monologues, updated for the Metaverse. Next time you want a futurologist, just ask. (It’s part of my RL job, and I have the beard and everything!)

    Congratulations. Definitely a keeper.

  24. Jane Calvert says:

I know I am a bit behind in the times, but that was brilliant…..very entertaining! :)
You guys are great….maybe not quite #1 in my book, but you know…..I am biased….slpodcast.com rules! ;-)

[...] Katier Reitveld of the Metaverse Messenger interviews Johnny Ming on SecondCast Episode 37, the Halloween episode entitled “War of the Worlds.” The article can be seen on page three of the October 24, 2006 issue of the Metaverse Messenger. 26. [...] Rarely do you see an article of this nature.  The minute a grid attack happens that shuts down or slows down the grid, the minute some sort of devistating, net shattering news is announced (such as certain sections of the Second Life forums being shut down), bloggers, news journalist, and the metaverse community in Second Life erupt in uproar.  For once though, the grid has been fairly quiet.  There has not been a widespread grid attack in many weeks, the most earth shattering thing to happen to Second Life was the spoof of War of the Worlds by the SecondCast.com crew (which if you haven’t listened to, is quite humorous).  Things have seemed to begun to stable themselves even in the wake of 1 million residents. It is nice to have this sort of stability in virtual worlds. [...]
